Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan prov. export up 32%

Zahedan, IRNA – Sistan and Baluchestan province has exported 1.165 million tons of goods worth 165 million dollars in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2022, to December 21, 2022), a provincial official said.

Mojtaba Shojaei, director general of economic coordination department of the Sistan and Baluchestan governor general, told IRNA that the amount of export shows 32 percent increase in terms of value and 78 percent growth in weight.

According to the official, the 786k tons of commodities were exported from border markets of the province worth 299 million dollars that indicate 23 percent increase in terms of worth in the mentioned period comparing to the same period last year.

Cement, clinker, travertine, coke, thermal coal, date, gas, vegetables, pesticides and agricultural products are among the main exported items from the southeastern province, he said, noting that the goods have been exported to Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Indonesia.

The total export of Sistan and Baluchestan province, including definitive and declarative exports, stood at 2,833 tons worth 927 million dollars in the period, showing no change in terms of value, but the volume increased eight percent in terms of weight, he noted.

The province imported 1.224 tons of commodities worth 1.238 million dollars in the same period, indicating 40 percent increase and 26 percent decrease in terms of value and weight respectively, Shojaei said.

The major imported goods were wheat, rice, corn, barley, mango, banana, sesame, potato, livestock, textiles, tea, spare parts, tire, air conditioners, spice and fish, he said, noting that these items have been imported from Russia, Pakistan, France, Germany, Brazil, India, the UAE, China, Thailand and Afghanistan.
